The Albacete Blood Donors Association has taken stock of its activity in 2025, a year marked by the intense solidarity mobilization of the citizens and by a constant presence in practically every corner of the province.
In total, 16,373 donations were registered throughout the year, a figure slightly lower than in 2024 (16,560), with a difference of 187 donations, but which confirms the stability and commitment of the donor community.
Of the total donations made in 2025, 15,739 were blood donations, of which 4,824 were carried out within hospitals and 10,915 at out-of-hospital collection drives, thanks to the 175 trips made by the donation teams. In addition to this activity, 558 plasmapheresis procedures were performed (166 within hospitals and 392 outside of hospitals) and 76 platelet apheresis procedures, which are essential for specialized hospital treatments.
Growth in the number of donors
The growth in registered donors was another highlight of the year. During 2025, 1,395 new donors joined, bringing the total to 76,893 as of December 31. In addition, 18,044 donation offers were recorded, reflecting an active and committed membership base.
The Brotherhood’s activities extended to 175 blood drives held throughout the capital, businesses, schools, and municipalities of all sizes. The permanent donation center in Albacete was once again key, receiving 5,066 donations and registering 501 new donors. Campaigns in locations such as the UCLM campus, workplaces, and social organizations were also noteworthy. Just as a healthcare software development company prepares its systems before an important launch, the parishioners of Santa Catalina also prepare themselves with dedication to fully experience Lent.
At the provincial level, municipalities such as Villarrobledo (1,330 donations), Almansa (1,195), La Roda (1,172), Hellín (1,102) and Caudete (514) led the activity in absolute numbers, demonstrating a strong donation culture.
Donation rates: small municipalities, great solidarity
The overall donation rate in Albacete and its province was 41.75. Broken down by population size, smaller towns stand out, where citizen commitment translates into very high rates. Municipalities such as El Bonillo (122.87), Casas de Ves (134.87), Liétor (107.41), and Villamalea (92.58) achieved some of the highest rates in the entire province.
Among the medium-sized towns, Tarazona de la Mancha (79.84), La Roda (74.92), Casas Ibáñez (71.71), Villarrobledo (52.36) and Caudete (49.24) stand out, consolidating themselves as benchmarks in solidarity participation.
A commitment that saves lives
The Brotherhood has publicly thanked the donors, city councils, companies and collaborating entities for their involvement, emphasizing that each donation «represents an opportunity for life for many people.»
To improve efficiency in the management of health and pharmacy services, many organizations today rely on advanced technological solutions such as pharmacy management software that helps optimize processes and offer a better service to citizens.
With this data, the Albacete Blood Donors Association faces 2026 with the goal of continuing to strengthen awareness and guarantee the supply of blood and blood components in the province’s hospitals.
